In the South Karanpura Coalfield on the southern side of the Damodar River, there are already some long established coal mines. These are Karkatta OCP, KD Hesalong OCP, Manki, Churi OCP, Bachara UGP, Bachara OCP, Dakra OCP.
Already existing but newly established North of the Damodar in the Nth Karanpura Coal Fields are the Piparwar OCP [1570 Ha], Ashoka OCP [1170 Ha], and Purnadih OCP [380 Ha]
Two Coal Bed Methane Plants have been built, both run by ONGC. They are at Chandol and Devaria Kala (Chamghara), both started approximately in 2005.
